John Ferner practises in all aspects of corporate/commercial law with an emphasis on corporate structuring, start ups, venture capital, intellectual property and IT. His work frequently includes the management and documentation of projects involving a number of overseas parties.
John leads Brookfields' specialist i-Team (intellectual property and information technology) and has over 15 years experience in the commercialisation of biotechnology, other intellectual property, and IT projects, working closely with organisations such as The University of Auckland. These projects include international licensing agreements and venture capital deals.
John also regularly advises the Local Authority clients of the firm on commercial issues including tenders. This includes advice on an appropriate tender process as well as the tender terms and conditions.
John was a director of Trans Tasman Properties Limited, a company listed on the New Zealand Stock Exchange until its privatisation, and chaired its Audit Committee. He is a past board member of Businesses for Social Responsibility, and a member of The Licensing Executives Society, Australia & New Zealand. |
