Litigation partner David Neutze leads Brookfields' insurance law practice. Working with him on insurance matters are four senior associates, two solicitors, and one senior legal executive.
This team has extensive experience in advising insurers, particularly in relation to:
- Professional indemnity matters
- Employer liability and practice
- Statutory and general liability
Generally we strive to settle claims, but where Court intervention is required, we have the skills and experience to proceed to trial.
While these are our core specialisations in insurance law, we also advise on all other aspects of insurance law and have a full understanding of and familiarity with the legal requirements of the insurance industry.
As well as providing advice directly to insurers, Brookfields also advises corporate, public and local authority clients on their insurance issues. At times this leads to us representing them (primarily as the insured party) in settlement negotiations and, where necessary, court proceedings. The firm has an extensive local authority client base and we have conducted a number of cases on their behalf where their insurers have been happy for us to represent them.
