October 2010 A Sea-change for Customary Title
The Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Bill (which passed its first reading on 15 September 2010) proposes to repeal the Foreshore and Seabed Act 2004. In doing so the Bill seeks to restore Maori customary interests in the foreshore and seabed which were excluded by the Foreshore and Seabed Act.
