At Brookfields Lawyers, we strive to conduct our business in a responsible and sustainable manner. We recognise that we are part of many communities – legal, corporate, client related, to name a few. As such we aim to sustain lasting and trusting relationships built on mutual respect and active partnerships. The principles of our corporate social responsibility and sustainability policy are:
- to minimise any negative impact on local communities and environments;
- to seek opportunities to make positive contributions financially, socially and economically;
- to consult with local communities on activities that might have an impact on them;
- to manage those impacts sensitively and sensibly;
- to encourage and facilitate employees in giving their time and expertise to support local initiatives; and
- to promote corporate giving through charitable donations, sponsorship and pro bono services built principally on partnerships with local organisations that are relevant to our business.
Examples of our community involvement include:
Honouring Manukau Business

Every year the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards honour the achievements of Manukau businesses. This year we have sponsored the Employer of Choice Award, recognising and rewarding an organisation for outstanding employee policies and practices.
Educationally Sound
Tertiary study comes at a great cost these days - not only in the form of the hard work required to achieve, but also financially. That's why, as part of the University of Auckland partnership appeal, we have set up the Brookfields Lawyers Scholarship for law students. It is offered to undergraduate students who are enrolled full time and have completed LLB Part II.
Santa at the Northern Health School

This school was established at the end of 1999 to centralise education for children who are unable to attend regular schools for health reasons. It covers the central and northern regions of the North Island. Instead of giving corporate Christmas gifts we donate books and other resources, on behalf of our clients, to resource a much needed library for the school.
Offering Opportunities for Everyone

Brookfields is a member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Trust. Our involvement with the Trust enables the development of resources and services for New Zealand business in the implementation off EEO principles in the workplace. Our membership in the EEO Employers Group demonstrates our commitment to EEO practices within the firm.
