In 2006, Brookfields Lawyers celebrated 150
years of history in the law.
Brookfields' beginnings go back to the arrival in New Zealand of Frederic
Maurice Preston Brookfield from Sheffield, who started his law practice
in Auckland in 1856.
Over the years his law firm prospered and by the time of its centenary
had become Brookfield Prendergast Schnauer and Smytheman. In 1984
Brookfield Prendergast & Schnauer merged with Towle & Cooper – the
basis for the firm as it is today.
As a leading law firm in New Zealand we recognise the importance of keeping
up with the times to ensure we meet the needs of our clients and provide
the best possible working environment for our people. Modern legal
practice demands technological excellence in order to achieve the high
quality services we provide.
We are proud of our history and the way we have evolved. Our heritage
has taught us the value of ethical, service-oriented practices that continue
to be at the heart of Brookfields.
